NY STIR

We invite you to join us for one intense, powerful weekend, where you will focus on and begin to manifest the answer to THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION you can ask yourself:

WHAT DO I WANT?

All human beings live their lives through filters and prescriptions about what is possible and not possible. By participating in STIR, you will get to take off the "tinted glasses" that have stopped you, so that you can see more clearly than ever before & free yourself up to receive more of what you want in your life.

During NY STIR- the Sedona Transformational Intensive Retreat, we will:

Discover our core mythologies, and therefore our core prisons, by asking ourselves 7 key questions.
Learn strategies for removing barriers to personal freedom.
Tap into the raw creative energy of the Universe to transcend patterns & open ourselves up to access the wealth, love and power inherently possible in our lives.

The road to enlightenment is often long and bumpy, so please bring an open mind, comfy clothes and pack a lunch.
New York restaurants

I do not live in New York (anymore), but I am there every few months or so and was thinking it would be cool if we could get a list going of some of our favourite vegetarian and veggie-friendly restaurants in the city...
I love Kate's Corner (Joint, Place, whatever she calls it nowadays) on E. 4th St and Ave B.
Of course there is Zen Palate at Union Sqaure and on 44th St and 8th Ave (is that right around 44th at least).
I love Vegetarian's Paradise on W.4th st. and 6th Ave. (and the one in Chinatown that is no longer affiliated on Mott St. I think).
There are many others: the Veggie Diner on 14th St & 6th Ave., Hangawi in the east 30's somewhere, etc.
Anyway, I would love to hear about some others to try when I am in New York in February.

If You Could Only Have One Yoga Book

If one could only have one book on yoga, the new book, Classical Hatha Yoga by Swami Rajarshi Munithi would likely be it. Check it out on Amazon's Inside the Book Program, where you can actually see its contents as well as its summary. It can also be purchased at the Kripalu Book Store.

Other new listings of Rajarshi Muni at Amazon include:

1. Infinite Grace, The Story of My Spiritual Lineage which details hitherto untold stories of Bapuji and Dadaji.
2. Divine Body
3. Tenets for The Spiritual Life

Happy Reading!

Does anyone know of a formal petition going 'round to get the handsome cabs off of the streets? Seeing that news footage of that poor horse that had to be put down really pissed me off. Not to mention that there were a few people injured as well. There are way too many cars and drivers that don't give a crap about being careful when sharing the streets with the carriages. I'm surprised these accidents don't happen more often. Anyone?

Vegetarian Detroit

Vegetarian and Detroit doesn't go together too much. Detroiters are known for their soulfood and seafood. BUt if any of you new yorkers get a chance to visit the motorcity and search in vain for some mung beans, here's a few ideas:
1.The Inn Season on 4th street in Royal oak has a wide variety of eclectic dishes, all delish. I have yet to try something i don't like. Cozy atmosphere, and great peanut butter chocolatey vegan desserts.
2.The OM cafe on Woodward in Ferndale has a smaller menu, but even earthier dishes. It's full of hippies and jazz beatnicks, but your parents would have a splendid time too. Where the Inn season is dressier, the Om Cafe is your neighborhood tofu joint.
3. LaShish on 14 Mile in Warren has excellent veggie choices. Garlic dip up the wazoo and a great hummus, falafel, and tabouli sandwich.
don't settle for chitlins in Detroit! that's my motto

Hi, I am a substitute teacher who has been helping 6th grade students in NYC with their science fair projects this week. Realizing that they could not get the statistical research they had hoped to find, they need more testimony from vegetarians in order to support their hypothesis that a vegetarian diet is healthy and feasible.

Please take a few minutes to answer these questions. My class will greatly appreciate your contribution to their project!!!

Thank you :-)

AGE:
GENDER:

What was your reason for becming a vegetarian?

What kind of vegetarian are you (ex/vegan, lacto-ovo, etc.)?

Has the media influenced your food choices or vegetarian lifestlye in other ways?

Is it difficult for you to be a vegetarian? Why?

What do you think are the benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle?

Has this diet helped you with weight loss?

two questions:

a: would anyone here in nyc be interested in hiring a vegetatarian private chef? If so, please message me privately.

b: are there any other private chefs on this list? again, please message me privately.

i'm doing a little research, and this seems like the most appropriate place to ask.

ANGELICAS FUR SURE on 12th between 1st and 2nd. YUM YUM AND YUM. everything is zen on a plate and you have to try the angelika cornbread with tahini spread. and the dragon bowls. SO GOOD.
SOUEN at 6th and prince is also very delightful.I had some kind of creamy peanut noodle dish with tofu and it was the perfect winter dish.
