Vegetarian and Detroit doesn't go together too much. Detroiters are known for their soulfood and seafood. BUt if any of you new yorkers get a chance to visit the motorcity and search in vain for some mung beans, here's a few ideas:
1.The Inn Season on 4th street in Royal oak has a wide variety of eclectic dishes, all delish. I have yet to try something i don't like. Cozy atmosphere, and great peanut butter chocolatey vegan desserts.
2.The OM cafe on Woodward in Ferndale has a smaller menu, but even earthier dishes. It's full of hippies and jazz beatnicks, but your parents would have a splendid time too. Where the Inn season is dressier, the Om Cafe is your neighborhood tofu joint.
3. LaShish on 14 Mile in Warren has excellent veggie choices. Garlic dip up the wazoo and a great hummus, falafel, and tabouli sandwich.
